Maths in EYFS

This area has two goals:

• Number
• Numerical Patterns

Important aspects of mathematical understanding are covered in this area of the curriculum and provide the foundation for numeracy. It focuses on achievement through practical activities such as sorting and matching, identifying relationships and patterns, problem solving and measuring. The children will learn about the properties of shapes and how to explain these differences. Concepts of number and number patterns are developed using a mastery approach to gain a deeper level of understanding of number quantity and how mathematics is applied in everyday life.
