TREAT OTHERS JUST AS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED / LUKE 6:31

Phonics, Spelling and Reading

We are delighted to announce that we are using ReadWriteInc scheme to teach and embed phonics and spelling throughout the school.

In Key stage 1, twenty minute daily phonics lessons are taught and the children read to an adult each day where possible.

Children in Key stage 2 will be supported to fill any gaps in phonic learning though regular interventions and to read fluently.

All children have a coloured Reading Record, differentiated for each year group, with the expectation that all reading at home is recorded in this and which will be regularly checked by an adult from their class.  If a child reads with an adult in school, their Reading Record will be stamped with 'Read with an adult' to reflect this. There are also lots of book related activities for you to enjoy with your child!

We encourage all children to read daily to an adult (or read independently in Upper KS2) and really appreciate your support in listening to your children read at home.
