Welcome to Rowan Class page
This term (Summer 1 2023), our learning project will be:
'What is the legacy of Ancient Greece?'
This term our learning will focus on Ancient Greece and its legacy. We will be learning about how we still benefit from their ideas today particularly democracy, literature, the arts and sports. Our other main focus this term will be on Evolution and inheritance. We will be learning about the Scientist Charles Darwin and his journey on the Beagle. This will pair nicely with our RE question which asks if creationism and Science are in conflict or are complimentary.
Below is our Term 5 project planner:
Here are our spelling words for this half term. These are quizzed in class on a Friday. There will be no spellings given during the week of SATS.
Our Class text this half term will be parts of:
Darwins’s Dragons –Lindsay Galvin
Amazing Evolution –Anna Claybourne (this is a wonderful non-fiction book and I thoroughly recommend it)
This is because the majority of our focus will be on preparing for the reading paper of the SATS assessments.
Because of this we will be reading Malamander by Thomas Taylor every day as our reading for pleasure class book.
