Flying Superheroes
Birch Class have begun work on their new topic 'What makes a hero?' by creating flying superheroes. They used their careful colouring, cutting and sticking skills to create their incredible superheroes. They will soon be added to our classroom displays. Check back here soon to see some photos of our finished flying superheroes.
Important information
- Our PE lessons this term are on a Wednesday with Mr McCarthy and on a Thursday with Mrs Bell. PE kits need to be in school everyday (red shorts, white T-shirt and trainers).
- Please bring a filled water bottle to school everyday and a waterproof coat as we will endeavor to go outside at break times whatever the weather.
- School uniform and PE kit must be named please so that we can quickly reunite stray items with their owner.
Home Learning
Please read with your child everyday from their Read Write Inc or book band book and record the reading in their reading record. The children on Read Write Inc have a bookmark for their book band with tricky words to also practise reading and spelling nightly. Those children who have finished the Read Write Inc programme have a gold band reading book to start with and then progress up through the book bands.
There will be a maths task set on a Friday which will link to our work in class. The task will be sent home in a home learning book and should be completed in the book and returned to school by the following Friday ready for the next task.
The children in VIPERS for reading will learn the grey tricky words (also know as red words) this term. They are as follows: bought, though, thought, through, caught, everyone, father, mother, walk, talk, above, water.
After Christmas they will begin learning spelling rules and will be given 6 words a week to learn. The spelling pattern and words will be introduced on a Monday, worked on on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and tested on a Friday. The following Monday a few of the words from the week or weeks before will used in a recap test to check that the spelling rule is still remembered.
